Thankful for...

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I certainly did! I love this holiday because it gives us a reminder and opportunity to think about how blessed we are… and the retail industry hasn’t figured out how to monetize and commercialize it so has pretty much left it alone.

Did you take time to consider what you’re thankful for? Whether or not we shared it with others, I trust we at least thought about it. If not, there’s still time! We don’t need a festive occasion to do it. But we must also think about who we’re thankful to.

The good things in our lives had to come from somewhere… or rather Someone. There are those who think the universe or karma brought them – or we somehow earned them – but we know better. Psalm 24:1 tells us, The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it….(NIV). For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory (Rom 11:36 NLT also see James 1:17). And I love how Peter proclaims it: His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness (II Peter 1:3 NIV).

The next time we’re thankful for something, let’s remember to be thankful to the One from whom all things come: our Almighty God.

Just something simple yet profound that keeps me thankful along the way.
